The recent homecoming tours by St. Mary’s College Lugazi (SMACOL) and Mother Kevin College Mabira (MOK) brought administrators, teachers, and students together in a vibrant engagement across the Teso and Eastern Uganda regions, with stops in the Teso region (covering Palisa,Kumi Ngora, and Soroti districts) and possiblyotherareas like Mbale  to foster strong parent and stakeholder relationships. These events serve as a crucial platform for dialogue and community building, ensuring the schools remain connected with the communities they serve.

The joint homecoming initiative by SMACOL and Mother Kevin College is a testament to their commitment to inclusive education and strong community ties. While the search results predominantly highlight the successful Teso region events (specifically Palisa, Kumi, Ngora, and Soroti districts), the spirit of this outreach extends to the broader regions of Eastern and Northern Uganda, likely encompassing areas like Mbale, Kapchorwa, Lira, and Kitgum, as the schools work to engage their diverse student base’s origins. The events typically feature a team of key administrators and teachers, who travel to meet parents, primary school heads, prospective students, and alumni.

The core objective is to create a synergy that facilitates regular and open communication on academic and administrative matters, ultimately contributing to the learners’ top-notch educational, skills, and moral excellence.

The touring teams usually include key personnel from both institutions, such as the Director, Headteachers, and their deputies, who present the school reports and address parental concerns. These familiar faces from the school leadership travel to the various districts, bringing the ‘home’ to the students’ home areas.

These leaders, along with other staff and student representatives, embody the schools’ ethos and serve as direct links between the institutions and the broader community

The strategy of engaging various regions allows the schools to reach a wide demographic and understand the unique needs of different areas in Uganda.

The Teso homecoming was a significant success, involving a meeting with parents and client primary schools across four districts, culminating in a major gathering in Soroti where there was animation of holy mass. This engagement helps bridge the geographical gap and fosters a sense of belonging among the Teso-based student population and their families.

Mbale, a major town in Eastern Uganda, serves as another crucial hub for engagement, connecting with parents and alumni from the surrounding areas, potentially including Kapchorwa. The proximity to various districts makes it an ideal location for a regional meet-up.

For students from Kapchorwa, the homecoming is a chance to meet school leaders closer to home and discuss academic progress and future aspirations, reinforcing the schools’ commitment to students from all regions.

The outreach into Northern Uganda, covering Lira and Kitgum, demonstrates the national reach and diverse student body of SMAcol and Mother Kevin College. These visits help in talent identification and recruitment, as well as reconnecting with alumni who are making a difference in their home communities.

These homecomings are more than just administrative tours; they are reunions and recruitment drives rolled into one. They allow current students to see the tangible link between their education and future opportunities, while administrators and teachers gain valuable insights into the students’ backgrounds. The events strengthen the alumni network, which provides a platform for past students to stay in touch and support their alma mater. This continued dialogue is central to the educational philosophy of both institutions, which pride themselves on producing morally upright and academically excellent individuals ready to contribute to the nation.

The success of these regional homecomings highlights the vibrant spirit of the SMACOL and Mother Kevin College communities, who continuously seek to build bridges across Uganda and ensure every student, regardless of their origin, feels part of a larger, supportive family.
